American Chemical Society: Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarship

The ACS-Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarship is awarded to recent graduates and graduate students with limited work experience and an interest in becoming secondary chemistry teachers.  Recipients must be pursuing a Masters degree in education or becoming certified as a chemistry/science teacher.

Scholarship recipients receive either up to $6,000 for full-time study or up to $3,000 for part-time study.* Recipients who meet the award criteria are eligible to renew the award annually up to three years.  The scholarship can be applied to tuition, books, room and board, and other education-related expenses. Scholarships cannot be applied to expenses retroactively.  Interested applicants must submit an online application.


To be eligible, you must:

  • Have a Bachelors degree or higher in chemistry or chemistry-related discipline
  • Have less than one year work experience outside of obtaining undergraduate and graduate degrees**
  • Demonstrate an interest and commitment to becoming a secondary educator
  • Be accepted into an education masters program or teacher certification program
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  1. Create an account. The account allows you to update your application at any time prior to submission and view your application status after submission. Your e-mail address will serve as the username for the account so use your most preferred e-mail.
  2. Click “Apply” in the left navigation pane.
  3. Click “2016 ACS-Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarship” to begin the application.
  4. Complete the Letter of Intent (LOI). The purpose of this LOI is to ensure that you complete the application that best matches your situation. This information that you provide will be reviewed by ACS Staff. When approved, you will receive the application form for which you are eligible. Allow one business day for review and notification.
  5. Once you be notified to complete your application, enter and submit the required materials for this application form. All information, including transcripts must be submitted with this form. Information not currently available in electronic form can be converted to PDF for free using the FaxtoMail feature. You may save and exit your application until the April 1st submission deadline.
  6. Submit your application. Saved drafts are not considered submitted applications. You must click “Submit” button. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to confirm your submission within 3 business days.
